Coach Profile

Years with Cobb Atlanta:
6 years

Hi! My name is Deanna Barker but my friends and family call me Dea.

I started playing volleyball in the 8th grade and fell in love with the sport! I played for Hillgrove High School and for various club teams throughout my 4 years in high school.  In 2011, I was offered a volleyball / academic scholarship from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC.  I was excited to continue playing for what I thought was going to be another 4 years. In my sophomore year, I had to stop playing collegiate volleyball and track & field due to an injury however; I continued to be around the sport of volleyball for my last 2 years in college. I graduate from Johnson C. Smith in May of 2015 with a degree in psychology and a concentration in industrial and organizational psychology.

I have coached 13's and 14's club teams, JV and Varisty high school teams, and a Cobb County middle school team over the past 6 years as well as various ages in the NEXT League program for Cobb Atlanta. I was also the coordinator for the NEXT Volleyball League at Cobb Atlanta for a year and a half. I love working with all of our players and teaching them more about the sport I love!
