2020 Orientation Information - 15s & Up

For 15s & up, Orientation and Fitness Evals will be in one session.

Orientation and Fitness Evaluations are this Saturday, November 14th at Cobb Atlanta Volleyball.

ORIENTATION INFORMATION

We are only allowing one parent per player. Please bring a chair and dress according to the weather because the meeting will start outside in the back of the CAJ. Please park in the front and walk to the back of the building.

The purpose of orientation is to get a detailed description of everything that will happen during your club season. We will talk about hotels, tournaments, team chemistry, expectations, and more!

After the meeting outside, your team will be directed into the building for your team meeting. We will have assigned areas for each team, please look for your coach or a sign with your team name. Before you enter the building, your temperature will be taken. Following that, you will be asked to scan a QR code for a short survey. Finally, we ask that you and your player put on a mask before entry!

FITNESS EVALUATIONS

Each season, players are evaluated on the following 6 exercises and have opportunities throughout the season to retest to improve their previous "score". The first fitness evaluation is a base-line. Please show up promptly at your assigned time.

Vertical Jump

Broad Jump

T-Drill

Touch 6

Pushups

Box Test

Each of these exercises tests a different aspect of a player's fitness level. Because of the fitness assessments, fitness instructors and players have baseline data and a more complete understanding of each player's strengths and areas that they can improve. There will be opportunities for players to retest every 6 weeks to see the growth and improvement they have made. These dates will be listed on the calendar and will not be mandatory, but it is a great chance to see a player's progression throughout the season.

In the fitness area, there are "Fitness Level Boards" where players may achieve different levels based on their scores on the above 6 tests. These levels are designed to not only recognize athletic achievements but to help each player stay motivated throughout the season during fitness sessions and to complete the mandatory take-home fitness each week. To make an "overall level" a player must achieve levels in several of the individual categories.
