Mental Toughness Coach

We are pleased to welcome Karlyn Edgar to the Cobb Atlanta team this season to serve as the Mental Toughness Coach.

"Hey! My name is Karlyn Edgar.  I am very excited to be working with Cobb Atlanta to develop the Mental Toughness Program. I have worked with CAJ in the past as a coach and am looking forward to combining my experiences as a psychology professor and a coach to help young athletes in a new way. The goal of this new program is to help these young athletes develop a psychological edge that will help cope with challenges they face on court and become more consistent so they are better able to reach their potential."

Karlyn is going to work with players, coaches and team captains. This season, Karlyn is specifically focusing on communication specifically: listening, talking to yourself, talking to your coach, talking to your teammates & confidence.

This TedTalk is one of my favorites because it challenges our thoughts on what it takes to be a leader. We often assume that to have an impact or to be a leader we need to be phenomenal at something, we have to do it better than everyone else. That isn't true though. We all have the power to be a huge influence in someone's life just by being ourselves. I challenge all of you to change your definition of leader. Recognize that you can have a major impact on people's life everyday and decide what type of impact do you want that to be.

Do you want to be the person that encourages others? Helps others? Supports others? What type of leader will you be?
