Wednesday practice

Great news! Kim will be at practice tomorrow (YEAHHHH!). Be ready to go at 7:30pm. I am delaying your "homework" until Sunday. Please bring 2-3 personal goals and 1 team goal on Sunday. If you forget, you will have to do something really embarrassing in front of the team - we can think of something good!

I have parent reps (thanks Katy and Rachel), just need a parent association rep. Would anyone like to volunteer?

Also, bring your signed player contracts to practice on Wednesday. Jessica only had 2 signed.

See you tomorrow red hots!

Friday 12/19- HOMEWORK :-)

Did you see the final four VB last night? It was amazing!

Homework is to watch the finals - The Nittany Lions will meet No. 2 Stanford for the NCAA title in a rematch of last year's championship match on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 7:00 p.m. CT (8:00 p.m. ET) live on ESPN2.

Choose someone that plays your position and watch them, how that person moves and what she does that works, shots (line/angle/tooling), how she communicates on the floor, coverage, passing form, defensive positioning and form, blocking, height of the passes, reading the hitter/setter, etc

Example - Setters

  • Do they jumpset or stand and set?
  • What plays do they run?
  • How often do they go to the backrow?
  • How quickly do they release on defense and general movement on the floor?
  • How often they tip?
  • COMMUNICATION...how she talks in between every play

AND watch overall as a team- the communication is KEY. After every play, they get together and pep each other up.

If you can't watch it live, record it. Write a brief paper about the things that you learned just from watching the game. How can you improve on your game? How can you help the team improve on our game? Can you picture yourself moving on the court like these players?

Rachel- please email me your homework over the holidays!

You all are great- We will see you on Sunday!

Mikki & Kim

Setters!

Setting practice starts Sunday, December 7th from 3-4 pm at McClessky (our practice immediately follows). Just a reminder that this is mandatory for our setters, if anyone else wants to go to work on hitting, passing, etc, please let Laurel know!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Good luck at fitness tonight! I will see everyone next Sunday for practice.

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

Rachel, Emily and Chelsea, I will let you know when fitness make-ups are after the holidays.

17 Red Pyros

We are very excited to kick off this season! We have great talent and great personalities. It should be a very fun and successful year. We need the four items below for EVERY practice: wear your Cobb Atlanta shirt, be on time (this doesn't mean lacing up your shoes at 1:58 tomorrow), be ready to work hard, and bring a positive attitude.

We have high expectations of you as individual players and as a team. We want you to learn throughout the season and to push yourselves beyond your "comfort zone".

See you at 2pm at McClessky!

Mikki & Kim (in spirit)

Welcome!!!

Welcome 17 Red We are excited for a great season at Cobb Atlanta and cannot wait to get started and meet each one of you! Remember that commitment night is November 12 at 7:30 in the Kell Auditorium. We will meet one another, try on uniforms, and fill out paperwork.

Things to do until then...

Start thinking of a team name.

Think of some goals for yourself and our team for the season!

We cannot wait to get to know each one of you great volleyball athletes! See you on November 12th!
